Heating up Warm Calls
Everyone knows cold calls are hard, and most people avoid them. Warm calls, however, are more attractive and easier to make. Right? Actually, not everyone finds it easy to call strangers or people they barely know. Some people have a hard time talking about and asking for business even on warm calls. So, how can we make warm calls easier and hotter for you? Here is a quick guide:
- Before the call, get enthusiastic about the products and services you offer. Spend a few minutes thinking about why you got into the business you are in and review your inspiring mission statement. Keep it where you can see it when you make your calls.
- When you reach the person, use a positive, enthusiastic voice, greet them and ask if they have a minute to chat. State a sentence or two that quickly connects them with you. For example, “Jan Harper and I know each other from (fill in your connection with the person). Jan suggested I call you because (fill in a value-laden benefit that appeals to the person).
- If you have already met the person, say something like this: “I enjoyed meeting and chatting with you at (name of event). You mentioned you were interested in what I do.”
- Make them a special introductory offer that includes something free and something at a reduced rate just because of your mutual connection or the fact they have already showed interest in your products or services.
Do this for one hour and see how much business you can generate!
Hire an Entrepreneur To Do the Job Right!
Juggling the responsibilities of your direct selling business and your life can create stress and feelings of overwhelm. Many direct sellers are reluctant to hire employees because of the hassle and expense of having staff. This is a big part of why I do not have employees. Instead, I have awesome entrepreneurs who support me in doing the many things I do.
From Internet research to calling potential customers to pulling together a PowerPoint® presentation to setting up your accounting system, a ton of professionals will do it for you quickly and affordably with a smile and a positive attitude.
In addition to technical expertise, the entrepreneurs you hire must have a genuine desire to serve you and your clients. They need to be good communicators, solution focused and willing to make your projects their priority. Do not limit yourself to someone local; the best person for your needs may live across the country. You can easily use the telephone, e-mail and voice mail to communicate. You want the best person, not the most convenient one!
This is one of my most successful secrets to success. Create your own criteria and watch your business thrive. Where can you hire an entrepreneur to take on tasks you do not need to do yourself? Remember, work on your business, not in your business!
